Product facts that answer specific AI shopping questions
Work through variant, compatibility, and use-case questions to find the product facts your catalog needs before you draft clearer copy for shoppers and AI search.

“Which backpack fits a 16-inch laptop and works as a personal item?” asks for more than a product category. A useful answer needs the laptop compartment dimensions, the bag’s external dimensions, and the airline’s current allowance. “Versatile travel backpack” supplies none of those facts.
For a merchant, these questions are a practical way to inspect a catalog. Take a specific shopping request and check whether the product page gives someone enough evidence to answer it. Separate facts you already have from facts you still need to obtain.
That exercise supports clearer product content for people and AI search. It cannot guarantee that an assistant will recommend your product.
Start with one question and one exact variant
The examples below are illustrative. They describe invented products to show how a merchant could work through the details; they are not Dondo customer results.
Suppose your store sells a backpack in 18-liter and 24-liter versions. The larger bag has a padded laptop compartment. The smaller version has an unpadded sleeve. A shared paragraph saying “protects your laptop on every trip” blurs a difference that matters at checkout.
For the question “Will the 18-liter bag fit my laptop?”, collect the sleeve’s usable internal measurements. A device’s marketed screen size does not provide its full exterior dimensions. If the supplier only says “fits most laptops,” ask for the actual measurements before writing a precise fit claim.
Your working notes might look like this:
| Question | Fact needed | Where it belongs |
|---|---|---|
| Will my laptop fit? | Usable sleeve dimensions for the selected variant | Dimensions or fit section |
| Is the sleeve padded? | Construction of that variant | Description and comparison table |
| Will it fit under an airline seat? | Bag dimensions, plus the airline’s applicable rules | Dimensions with a qualified travel note |
| Can I wash it? | Manufacturer’s care instructions | Care section |
Keep airline acceptance qualified. Even with accurate bag dimensions, you cannot promise approval across carriers, fares, or future policy changes.
Compatibility needs a boundary
A USB-C connector is visible in a photograph. Supported charging and display functions may require a technical specification.
Consider an illustrative dock with a USB-C host cable. A shopper asks, “Can I use two monitors with my laptop?” Before drafting an answer, verify the exact dock model, supported display configurations, operating system requirements, host requirements, and any necessary power supply. A connector that fits is insufficient evidence for a dual-monitor claim.
If documentation confirms two displays only for specified host configurations, carry that condition into the copy. “Supports two external displays on the host configurations listed in the compatibility table” is useful only when that table exists and matches the product.
If compatibility remains uncertain, leave the claim out and send the question to the supplier. Adding “should work” to a draft does not resolve the uncertainty. A wrong answer can send a customer home with the wrong accessory.

“Good for small kitchens” is a judgment. A shopper can evaluate it more easily when a folding table page gives its open dimensions, folded dimensions, weight, and clearance requirements.
Work backward from the situation. Someone who stores the table beside a refrigerator needs the folded depth. Someone who moves it daily may care about weight. Someone placing a hot pan on it needs an explicit heat-use instruction, rather than a guess based on the surface material.
Some facts are missing from the prose but present in a manual. Others have never been established. Treat these separately:
- If the manual confirms folded depth, add that measurement to the product’s source information and draft a readable storage note.
- If the supplier has never confirmed outdoor suitability, hold that claim until you have evidence.
An AI writing tool can help express the first fact. It cannot establish the second through better wording.
Put the answer where shoppers can check it
Keep a compact source note for each important claim: the variant, the verified value, and the document or person that confirmed it. This can live in your existing catalog worksheet. It does not need a new system.
Then make the important facts visible on the page. Use a short paragraph for the use case, a table for measurements, and a clear compatibility note when conditions matter. Avoid burying essential limitations in an image or a long brand story.

Google’s guidance for AI features in Search says existing SEO practices remain relevant and important content should be available as text. It does not require special AI schema or new AI-specific files. Eligibility also does not guarantee inclusion. This guidance concerns Google’s AI features; other services have their own systems.
Existing product markup and feeds still need attention where you use them. Ask whoever manages those systems to check consistency when facts change. Dondo’s content work does not automatically repair technical SEO or edit your site’s schema.
Bring confirmed facts into the draft
With the facts in place, a shopper can compare dimensions, fit and care on the page. Use the product description guide to decide which answers belong near the beginning.
In Dondo, start with the initial free Analyst scan and inspect the findings for a small set of products. Use actual shopper questions to review the AI search readiness findings alongside missing details. Dondo’s suggested buyer context is a starting point to correct, rather than measured research about your customers.
Add verified information before requesting paid Copywriter work. Review the resulting titles, descriptions, and supported SEO fields against the exact variants. Approve the changes you want, then use the publishing or export option available for your platform. Check the storefront afterward.
Open Dondo’s AI search content workflow with one product and its hardest fit or compatibility question in mind. Bring the answer’s source with you.
