How to choose your first products to improve with Dondo

Turn your first Analyst findings into a manageable product group. Weigh business importance, verified content gaps, stock, and facts you still need to confirm.

Your first Dondo report may show missing dimensions on a bestseller, a vague title on a seasonal item, and weak descriptions across a whole collection. Choosing the lowest score would give you a starting point. It would leave out whether anyone buys that product, whether you can restock it, and whether you know enough to correct the page.

Choose your first group where business importance meets a content gap you can actually fix. Keep the group small enough to read every proposed change.

Begin with the scan, then add what you know

Dondo's initial Analyst scan is free once per store, within an allowance of up to 500 connected-store products or 150 products imported from a file. Its findings cover areas including titles, descriptions, SEO, AI search readiness, completeness, and recorded price and stock. The current FAQ explains the scope and the difference between importing and enabling products.

Read the finding behind each score. “Missing capacity” gives you a specific question to answer. A low overall score alone does not tell you what to write. The assessment also depends on the information available when it ran.

Add your own business evidence beside those findings. Order history can identify a bestseller. Search performance can show pages with impressions but few clicks. Your stock system can tell you that a product will be unavailable for months. Bring these observations from the systems where you track them; do not assume the Analyst has measured them.

Work through a first-group decision

The following example is illustrative. It describes a fictional homewares catalog, not a Dondo customer or a measured performance result.

ProductBusiness evidence the merchant checkedVerified content gapFirst decision

Cotton kitchen towelSearch report shows many impressions and few clicksTitle says only “Essential”; material and item type are confirmedInclude

Ceramic serving bowlSeasonal favorite; no stock and no confirmed delivery dateDiameter missing; supplier confirms the measurementDefer copy work
Decorative trayFew recent orders; low current business priorityDescription is short but includes the known dimensions and materialLeave for later

The lunch container has a clear buyer question and a verified answer. The towel has an unclear title worth correcting. Low clicks make it worth investigating, but do not establish that the title caused the problem. Search position, competing results, price, and seasonality could also matter.

The bottle deserves attention before new copy. Ask the supplier which insulation claim is supported for that exact model. Until then, remove an unsupported claim if necessary through your normal catalog process. Generating more confident wording would make the uncertainty harder to spot.

The bowl illustrates a tradeoff. You might prepare its content before a confirmed seasonal restock. With no delivery date, the first paid work may be better spent on products buyers can order now. That choice comes from your trading plans.

Use two questions to settle close choices

Ask: “Does this product matter to the business now?” Then ask: “Can we supply the missing fact and review the change?”

Prioritize products where both answers are yes. An important product with uncertain specifications needs research. A minor product with an easy rewrite can wait behind an in-stock bestseller whose size is missing.

Avoid turning the decision into a complicated formula. If you use a spreadsheet, short notes such as “repeat seller,” “capacity confirmed,” and “restock unknown” preserve the reason. A point total can hide that one unresolved fact makes a draft unsuitable.

Keep similar review problems together. A handful of storage containers with confirmed capacities lets you check the same factual pattern across several drafts. Mixing them with electrical appliances and cosmetics would introduce different compatibility and claim questions in your first group.

Give SEO and AI search a concrete job

For each selected product, write down a buyer question the page should answer. For the lunch container, that might be its capacity and whether a divider is included. For the towel, it might be material, dimensions, and pack quantity.

Use the answers in clear product language. A title can identify the towel's material and pack quantity; the description can state its dimensions and confirmed care instructions. Those are changes you can inspect during review. For a broader assessment before choosing the group, use the catalog audit checklist.

Dondo's AI search readiness finding helps you inspect those gaps. It does not predict a ranking, an AI citation, or a sales increase.

Enable a group you can finish reviewing

Importing a catalog does not purchase Expert work for every product. New paid work needs an active Expert pass or Team purchase and selected enabled products within the allowance. Check Pricing before choosing the scope.

Use Copywriter when the verified gap is wording or missing explanations. Consider Photographer when existing photos need new product visuals, then inspect those visuals against the actual item. Choose the work that addresses your finding.

Review the brand and buyer context too. Dondo's suggestions are inferences from available information. Your sales and support experience may correct them.

After reviewing the first group's drafts, approve the changes you want and use the publish or export route available for that connection. Check the destination. Then choose the next group using what you learned about missing facts and review effort.
