How to adapt one product for different sales channels
Keep one verified set of product facts while adapting titles, descriptions, attributes, and images for each store or marketplace. Follow a worked example.

Your store may give you room to explain how a product fits into someone's day. A marketplace may split that explanation between a title, attributes, and feature fields. Copying the same paragraph into both can bury the detail a buyer needs or put it in a field the destination does not accept.
Start with one verified fact set. Adapt how each channel presents those facts, then check each destination separately.
Dondo supports store connections and catalog file imports, but the available import, edit, publish, and export actions differ by platform. A connection does not establish that every field can be published everywhere.
Build the fact set before writing either version
The following example is illustrative. It uses a fictional product and sample copy, not a customer result or a ready-to-submit marketplace listing.
A merchant sells the Alder desk organizer. The supplier specifications and packaging establish these facts:
- One organizer per package, SKU ALD-OAK-24.
- Solid oak, with a clear finish.
- Dimensions of 24 × 10 × 3 cm.
- Three open compartments.
- Wipe clean with a soft, dry cloth.
The merchant has no evidence that the oak is certified sustainable, that the finish is waterproof, or that every smartphone fits. Those claims stay out of both versions. A photo showing a phone in one compartment does not establish universal compatibility.
Keep the SKU and measurements beside the drafts. If another size joins the collection later, the same product name will not be enough to identify which record you are editing.
Map the destination before adapting the words
Use a simple field map for the channels you actually manage. The example below is a planning aid; inspect your own destination's current fields and category requirements before submission.
| Shared information | Store presentation | Marketplace presentation to inspect |
|---|---|---|
| Product identity | Product title and selected variant | Listing title, category, and applicable identifiers |
| Material and size | Description and specification area | Material and dimension attributes where available |
| Compartment layout | Paragraph, details list, and photos | Feature or description fields supported by the listing |
| Care instructions | Care section | Supported description or care attribute |
| One item included | Product details near purchase information | Package quantity and included-items fields where available |
Check whether the destination supports the field through your Dondo connection. If a field is absent from an export, decide how you will apply and verify it through the destination's own workflow.
Do not treat every sales channel as a text box. Category selection, identifiers, inventory, and variation structure may require work beyond the copy. When using Google Merchant Center, its product data specification is the relevant reference for required attributes and variant information. Other destinations have their own requirements.

A store title could be:
Alder solid oak desk organizer
A store description has room for a short explanation:
Give small desk items a place within reach. The Alder organizer has three open compartments in a solid oak body with a clear finish. It measures 24 × 10 × 3 cm. One organizer is included; wipe clean with a soft, dry cloth.
For a marketplace that supports a title and feature list, an illustrative adaptation could be:
Alder solid oak desk organizer, 3 compartments, 24 × 10 × 3 cm
- Material: Solid oak with a clear finish.
- Layout: Three open compartments for organizing small desk items.
- Size and quantity: 24 × 10 × 3 cm; one organizer per package.
- Care: Wipe clean with a soft, dry cloth.
These examples are alternatives for review. Check the selected marketplace's current title conventions, permitted formatting, category attributes, and image rules before using either. A destination might require some details in dedicated attributes instead of the title.
Both versions preserve material, dimensions, quantity, care, and product identity. Brand tone can change the introduction. It cannot turn the finish into waterproof protection.
Use Dondo for drafts with a clear brief
Connect the supported store or import your file, check the imported record, and confirm the destination you are preparing content for. Dondo's Copywriter uses product facts and brand context for product and SEO copy. New Expert work requires an active pass or Team purchase and enabled products within the allowance. See Pricing for current options.
Give the draft a specific job: explain the three compartments using the confirmed measurements, preserve the one-item quantity, and avoid unverified material claims. Review suggested brand and buyer context against what you know. Those suggestions are inferences, not measured customer preferences.
For SEO and AI search, look for unanswered buying questions in each version. Can someone find the size in text? Is the included quantity clear? Does the description agree with the attributes? The product description guide offers a broader review process. Clear answers give you something concrete to check without promising search placement.
Apply one channel and inspect the result
Review and approve the first channel's content. Use the publish or export action available for that connection and inspect the operation result. Then open the destination listing. Confirm the correct SKU, field placement, measurements, quantity, and imagery before preparing the next channel.
VTEX is an important example of a different path. Dondo supports catalog import and review for VTEX, but direct publication is unavailable. Use the file export and apply the reviewed changes through your VTEX workflow, as described in the FAQ. The exported file still needs to reach the correct records.
Repeat the process for the second channel using the same fact set and its own presentation requirements. If the result differs from your approved draft, investigate the field mapping or destination behavior before resubmitting.
Explore Dondo's cross-channel workflow with one product whose specifications you trust. Finish the first destination check before expanding to the rest of the collection.
